Fast Hunger Facts for the Mid-South area

  • 20% of the Mid-South population has experienced food insecurity or hunger in the last 12 months
  • That's more than 396,000 people
  • Of that 20%, 31% have incomes above the level that qualifies for food stamps.  They make too much money for food stamps, but still struggle to feed themselves or their families.
  • One in four children in the Mid-South struggle with hunger.  This can cause severe development problems.
